Ecotricity

Ecotricity is based in Stroud, Gloucestershire and is focused on the use of renewable energy. The company was founded in 1996 with the aim of becoming a zero-carbon company at the earliest opportunity by using alternative materials and technology, rather than through 'Carbon Offsetting'.  Their policy is to always put the environment before money in any apparent conflict of interests.

Run on a not-for-dividend model, Ecotricity has no shareholders or investors to keep happy. This leaves them free to use their funds to pursue their declared aim of changing the way electricity is made.

Ecotricity is run by Dale Vince who is also club chairman of non-league football club Forest Green Rovers. The club is also looking to create the first organic pitch after cow manure was used as fertiliser. They also supply energy to handmade cosmetics company Lush, and have been recommended by the Soil Association and Oxfam.
